The 5 Chinese brothers is a old story, but for my illustration class, we had the choice to redesign a spread in any childrens book. My dad read this book to me as a kid, and its pretty brutal for a children’s book. The town keeps trying to execute these brothers by different methods. But each bother has an special power that saves them. This brother simply could not be drowned. I liked this assignment because I finally got to use adobe illustrator for a class project. I stared with a pretty quick and rough pen doodle as my concept. I also had fun redesigning the type on the page. I feel like it has a better flow now.
